Its numerous National Forests, Wilderness and Recreations Areas, State Parks, granite peaks, clean lakes, and wide-open spaces, provide unmatched outdoor activities with some of the best fishing, hunting, and backpacking to found anywhere in America. Siskiyou County is a meeting place of mountain ranges and a diverse topography that contains, thick hardwood evergreen forests, vast ranches and rich, deep-soiled, agricultural land.  A enormous place, its Klamath National Forest alone, at 2,715 square miles, is larger than the State of Delaware and more than twice the size of Rhode Island.

Siskiyou County, California was first home to the Karak, Shasta, and Klamath peoples.  The origins of the name “Siskiyou” are much debated.  Some say that it comes from a Chinook word for a bob-tailed horse, while others claim that it comes the French Six Cailloux (six stones) – a name given to a crossing on the Klamath River in the Scott Valley by trappers with the Hudson’s Bay Company in the 1830s.  Either way, the name settled on the local mountains and on the Siskiyou Trail, a Native American footpath, traversing the region and connecting the Sacramento Valley with the Willamette to the north in Oregon.  This trail was used by early explorers to the region, who were quickly followed by pioneers and then Forty-Niners heading to the gold fields. The population in the region boomed with the discovery of gold near Yreka in 1851, and Siskiyou County was formally established in 1852.  The Central Pacific Railroad (later Southern Pacific and now Union Pacific) was laid down in the 1880s bringing with it a boom in summer resorts and tourism.  The Southern Pacific advertised this route as “The Road of a Thousand Wonders.”  Today, you can drive much of the old Siskiyou Trail on Interstate 5.

Siskiyou County mesothelioma lawsuits can be handled in the Siskiyou County civil court system.  They may also be filed in other California counties with civil court departments dedicated to handling mesothelioma lawsuits, even Siskiyou County mesothelioma lawsuits.  The Siskiyou County Courthouse is located at 311 4th Street in the heart of Yreka.  The Siskiyou County Courthouse is an amalgamation of several historic structures, the original of which dates from 1857.  Groundwork was broken for a long needed modern structure in 2019 and it is expected to be completed by 2021. Whatever county a case may ultimately be filed in, plaintiffs in Siskiyou County mesothelioma lawsuits are often given priority for trial, as many counties have dedicated Asbestos Departments allowing them to be resolved as quickly as possible.
