Diamond Bar Mesothelioma

DIAMOND BAR, CALIFORNIA OVERVIEW

Diamond Bar, is located in the San Gabriel Valley in Southern California, in Los Angeles County.  According to the U.S. Census, the 2022, estimated population was 52,855.  Diamond Bar is 16.8 miles from Anaheim, 29.1 miles from Los Angeles, 40.7 miles from Long Beach and 43.6 miles from Torrance, California.  Diamond Bar is 14.88 square miles and the very last city to incorporate in Los Angeles County.

The Indigenous residents in the area were the Tongva Native Americans.  They have also been referred to as the Gabrielino-Tongva Tribe.  The Tongva People inhabited approximately a 4000 mile territory in the Greater Los Angeles area. Under Spain’s regime in the early 1800s, the nearby San Gabriel Arcangel Mission controlled the area and compelled the Tongva natives to work the land which made the mission wealthy, with orchards, vineyards and herds.

In 1821, Mexico gained its independence from Spain and redistributed the Spanish Mission’s land by issuing land grants to a variety of individuals. Diamond Bar sits on part of the 4,340 acre, Rancho Los Nogales, a Mexican land grant awarded to Jose de la Luz Linares on March 30, 1840.  This sizeable land grant included Brea Canyon and eastern Walnut Valley.

Through the years, Rancho Los Nogales was divided into parcels and developed for ranching and agricultural uses, including, walnut groves and other crops.  In 1918,  the largest portion of Rancho Los Nogales was sold to Frederich E. Lewis.  Mr. Lewis named his property Diamond Bar Ranch after his registered branding iron which consisted of a diamond over a bar.

The Diamond Bar Ranch remained intact until 1956, when the Capital Company, the acquisition arm of the Transamerica Corporation purchased 8000 acres of Diamond Bar Ranch for 10,000,000 from the Bartholome family to develop a master-planned community.  The Transamerica Corporation  incorporated the Diamond Bar name and logo into the master-planned development.

In 1960, the first homes were built in Diamond Bar. However, Transamerica sold its interest in Diamond Bar in the 1970s and 1980s when it divested itself from real estate. When the  first homes were built in Diamond Bar there were no freeways through Diamond Bar. The Pomona Freeway was completed in 1964, and the Orange Freeway began in 1969 which resulted in a residential boom in the unincorporated Diamond Bar area.  On April 18, 1989, the city of Diamond Bar incorporated, making it the newest and last incorporated city in Los Angeles County.

Today, Diamond Bar is a residential suburban community with easy access to the city of Los Angeles, and Orange and San Bernardino counties.  Diamond Bar has a diverse community with a large Asian-American population , including immigrants from Taiwan, Soth Korea and China.  According to the 2020 U.S. Census, Diamond Bar is 59.4% Asian, 21.3% White and 19.0% Latino.
