Milpitas Mesothelioma

Milpitas, California Overview

According to the 2022 census data, over 77,000 people make their home in Milpitas. Milpitas is in Silicon Valley, in Santa Clara County.  The city is 13.52 square miles.  Milpitas is 46.4 miles from San Francisco and 35.1 miles from Oakland, California. Although the town was settled in 1852, it was not incorporated as a city until January 26, 1954.

The Tamien People, a part of the Ohlone Native American Tribe were the indigenous inhabitants of Milpitas.  Milpitas was situated between the Mission Santa Clara de Asis founded in 1777 and Mission San Jose de Guadalupe founded on June 11, 1797.   Mission Santa Clara was the 8th mission and Mission San Jose de Guadalupe was the 14th mission in the chain of 21 missions established by the Franciscan Priests. The Tamien/Ohlone Indians’ way of life was changed forever with the European conquest.

Milpitas was built on several land grants, Rancho Milpitas, Rancho Rincon de los Esteros and Rancho los Tularcitos.  José Maria Alviso was awarded Rancho Milpitas and is considered the founder of Milpitas.  Both José Maria Alviso and Jose Higueras  (owner of Rancho los Tularcitos) built adobe homes on their Ranchos in the mid-1800s, which are still in existence today.

The 1850 Gold Rush brought settlers from all over the world to the Milpitas area. These early settlers farmed the rich land, developed fruit orchards and grew peas, beans, spinach, asparagus and later hay to feed thousands of horses in San Francisco. After World War II, many workers and military personnel were looking for housing in the greater S.F. Bay Area. Milpitas residents voted for incorporation, and on January 26, 1954, the city was officially incorporated. In 1955, Ford Motor Company built a manufacturing plant in Milpitas and the rich farmland was eventually transformed into residential neighborhoods.  Today, Milpitas is considered a suburban residential community for San Jose and the S.F. Bay area.

Milpitas is home to many Technology and Biotech companies, including FireEye, Infineon Technologies, Abbyy USA, Abzooba, Micron Technology, Cisco Systems, Inc., Broadcom, VIAVI Solutions, Lirik, IXYS Corporation, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Creative Labs, Palm One, Fujitsu, Quantum, Seagate, Roxio, Human Cells Biosciences, CSBio, and many more.
