Riverside County, California was founded in 1893. Riverside was named after its location beside the Santa Ana River. Riverside County is well known for being the birthplace of the California citrus industry. In 1874, Eliza Tibbets received from a friend three Brazilian navel orange trees, coming from Bahia, Brazil.
